European Heritage was established in 1986 by Clive Morgan, a Cropwood Fellow of Institute of Criminology, Cambridge University to arrange incoming 'criminology tours' for students from Canada and Australia to experience at first hand the workings of the criminal justice system in England & Wales. The scope of these tours has widened to include the criminal justice systems of most European Countries.
In 1987 a small tour programme was launched aimed at people in the 50+ age group. This included London theatre breaks staying at 4* & 5* hotels, theatre day tours and short breaks to popular British destinations such as York, Chester and Bournemouth. Also the same year gave rise to European Heritage organising tours for UK schools for several departments including History, Music, English and Geography to name but a few.
Late in 1988 the first tour to Normandy was arranged. The welcome, scenery, attractions and cuisine proved popular with passengers and in subsequent years, leading up to the 50th anniversary of D-Day, extra tours were added including two each year to Monet's Home & Garden at Giverney. In recent years we have arranged concert tours for male voice choirs and brass bands who have taken part in the Falaise Festival and a number of tours for School groups studying William The Conqueror and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. In 1998 European Heritage Tours were awarded the Normandy Tourist Board 'Benedictine Award' for excellence in coach tourism. European Heritage are Brittany Ferries 'Preferred Short Break Tour Operator'.
